Frequently Asked Questions
Veteran Benefits Network aims to empower veterans by simplifying the process of gathering medical evidence for VA disability claims. By providing personalized assistance, collaborating with trusted medical professionals, and ensuring compliance with VA standards, we strive to maximize the success rates of our clients' claims and contribute to their overall well-being.
A VA disability rating is the percentage the Department of Veterans Affairs assigns to measure how much a service-connected condition affects your daily life. The higher the percentage, the more support and compensation you may receive.
To pursue an increase in your VA disability rating, you must file a claim and undergo an evaluation of your condition. These claims can be complex, as they depend on both the severity of your symptoms and the VA’s Schedule for Rating Disabilities. While the Department of Veterans Affairs makes the final decision on every claim, our role is to support you by connecting you with independent, experienced medical professionals. These providers prepare detailed and accurate Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) that clearly show the progression of your condition. High-quality DBQs and strong documentation not only strengthen your case but also help minimize delays and reduce stress for you and your family.
Veteran Benefits Network connects Veterans with a trusted network of licensed medical providers who share a common mission: helping Veterans pursue the benefits they have earned. While the Department of Veterans Affairs has the final authority on all claims, having accurate and properly completed DBQs greatly increases the likelihood of a successful outcome. We do not make promises or guarantees, but we are committed to ensuring Veterans have the strong medical documentation they need to support their claims.
The period of time between submitting a claim for a VA disability increase and the time when the decision on your claim is reached depends on various circumstances, but the process normally lasts several months.
If the VA approves your disability increase claim, you may be eligible for back pay or retroactive benefits. The decision to grant these benefits rests solely with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and as a neutral third party, we do not influence that outcome.
If your service-connected disabilities have worsened, it may be the right time to file a claim with the VA and provide updated documentation that reflects your current condition. Through our nationwide and international DBQ services, we connect you with independent medical professionals who deliver detailed, accurate reports tailored to your situation. While no documentation can guarantee a specific outcome, high-quality DBQs are a critical part of the claims process, offering the strong support your case needs. Yes. Veteran Benefits Network's role is limited to providing medical evaluations and completing Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs). Veterans must file their own claims, which can be submitted through an accredited organization, by mailing them directly to the VA, or by filing electronically via eBenefits or the VA’s official website.
Veteran Benefits Network is not affiliated with the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Instead, we provide access to a network of independent, licensed medical providers who understand the VA claims process and are dedicated to giving Veterans the thorough evaluations they deserve. VA-appointed doctors, who work directly under contract with the VA, are often burdened with heavy caseloads and may be unable to give each claim the attention it requires. As a result, many Veterans feel dissatisfied with their evaluations and end up facing years of refiling or lengthy appeals.
Our licensed medical providers are experienced with the VA disability claims process and know how to properly complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs). In contrast, most primary care physicians are not familiar with the specific requirements needed to complete a DBQ accurately.
Yes. We collaborate with many accredited agents and attorneys. However, only licensed medical providers are authorized to complete and sign Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs). Accredited agents and attorneys cannot provide medical opinions or sign DBQs.

An Intent to File sets a potential start date (or effective date) for your VA benefits. If you notify the VA of your intent to file for benefits and they approve your claim, you may be able to get retroactive payments. Retroactive payments are payments for the time between when the VA processed your intent to file and when they approved your claim.
You can submit your Intent to File through the VA (1-800-698-2411) at any time, but you have 1 year to complete and file your claim after notifying the VA of your intent to file.
Intent to File notifications work for both initial claims and appeals. Contact us for more information.
We do not recommend filing an Intent to File online through the VA website at this time. Oftentimes Veterans will accidentally start their claims process while trying to file an Intent to File. Please call the VA at 1-800-698-2411 until further notice.
We provide an expedited process for Veterans facing urgent deadlines. Contact us as soon as possible to discuss your situation.
Please note that while we will do our best to accommodate your needs, meeting a specific deadline cannot be guaranteed and will depend on the details of your claim.
